Wells-next-the-Sea Art Workshops

On Saturday, September 16th 2017, an open air painting workshop will be held at Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk. Offered, as part of Paint Out Wells 2017, by experienced artist tutors.

Wells 2016 Workshop

Michael Richardson, UA ran an art workshop on working in changing light and under time pressure. Ideal for dawn, dusk, sunset or sunrise, nocturne, and weather-conscious artists 3-7.30pm (open to non-competition artists for a participation fee).

Local and visiting amateur, aspiring and experienced artists, as well as members of the competition, were all welcome to take part. The workshop took place 3-7pm and included teaching and a tutored painting session in the late afternoon light leading up to sunset on the Wells Quayside in the  £45 package price. Own art materials used.

• Painting En Plein Air Under Changing Light with Michael Richardson

Michael Richardson is a well-known professional en plein air painter and tutor, who will guide beginner and intermediate artists through the steps needed to create a successful open-air painting whilst the light changes. Experienced painters may also benefit from the practice of painting under rapidly changing conditions from the winner of the Nocturne painting prize at Paint Out Norwich 2015.

More About Michael Richardson, UA

Michael Richardson, is a member of the Plein Air Painting Society, The Wapping Group of Artists, United Society of Artists, and shows in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. He paints outside almost every day in the Impressionist style for collectors worldwide. He trained at Ipswich School of Art as a sculptor and painter in the 1960s.

His “keen interest in sailing led him into a career in the marine industry where he specialised in sail design and manufacture… As a result of his marine industry experience he is drawn to subjects containing boats and his knowledge of the way they are designed and built lends authenticity to his marine work…. He has exhibited at The Royal Society of Marine Artists” among many other prestigious art exhibitions such as  The Royal Institute of Oil Painters and The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at the Mall Galleries in London.
