Wells-next-the-Sea weather for Paint Out Wells looking dry and warm on plein air painting days 20°C/68°F 16-18 September. Come and see our two-dozen artists in action around the streets, quayside and beach at Wells, Norfolk.
The Sunday 19th 6:36am sunrise and even earlier pre-dawn for early risers is a public ‘paint out‘ open to competition and public artists. Our hub for the weekend event is the Congregation Hall (NR23 1EZ), between Clubbs Lane and Newgate Lane, opposite the Buttlands (NR23 1EX), however, we may also be using the Albatros, Quayside, and Beach Cafe as meeting points.
Timings
Friday 16 September
| 11:00 am | Team arrives in Wells at the Albatros |
| 12pm – 2:00 | Artists arrive and meet at the Albatros |
| 2:00 – 2:30 | Artists stamp canvases |
| 2:30 – 3:00 | Artists leave for Wells Beach |
| 3:30 – 6:30 | Artists paint up to Sunset at Beach |
| 6:30 – 7:30 | Return to Congregational Hall opposite the Buttlands |
| 8pm | Free time, why not try The Globe or French’s fish’n’chips |
Saturday 17 September
| 8:00 – 8:30 | Congregation Hall open for collecting any kit; head to Quay |
| 8:30 – 9:30 | Travel to Burnham & Brancaster by minibus/cars from Quay |
| 10:00 – 1:00 | Painting in Burnham Market & Brancaster Staithe |
| 1:00 – 1:45 | Artists return |
| 2:00 – 6:30 | Wet work on display on racks in the Congregation Hall |
| 3:30 – 6:30 | Afternoon Competition Painting around Wells |
| 3:00 – 7:30 | Painting with Changing Light workshop with Michael Richardson, UA, on the Quayside (£45 extra, open to public) |
| 6:30 – 8:00 | Access to Congregational Hall for Artists to store kit/paintings |
| 8pm | Free time, why not try The Crown or Wells Crab House |
Sunday 18 September
| 6:00 – 10:00 | Quayside public (£10)+artists open Dawn/Sunrise paint out |
| 9:00 – 10:30 | Return paintings to Congregational Hall |
| 10:30 – 11:30 | Optional subsidised artists Brunch aboard the Albatros (£5) |
